Why do people spend so much time with the social networking sites??

Homo sapiens sapiens being the most intelligent creature on the earth doesn’t know to live life in isolation. We would rather die than staying alone in the world. This is the miracle of the nature. We are the only in the species to use something called as “smile”. This is the sole existence of all these social networking sites.
An employee from Google, a graduate from MIT and many more brainchild started these sites .. Orkutting... Facing the book... Hi5… Stylefm….give my space. It’s certain that until the human beings are hungry for life these companies won’t lose the demand unless there is a stiff competition from the newcomers.
Millions of youths sit in front of the computer browsing these sites. Things they would do while they are browsing...
i. Checking the scraps@Orkut.com or the wall@facebook.com
ii. Accepting the friend requests or inviting the friends.
iii. Going through the useless time killing applications which certainly give the false results. Even then people believe them and publish so that it can kill the time of their friends.
iv. Getting confused with the celebrity profile pictures and opening unknown profiles to view the profile and sending a request if it turns to be a hot chick/cool dude.
v. Thinking most of the time about the status bar for your own profile (which turns to be unnoticed most of all the time.)
vi. Uploading the picture and thinking all the time for each picture about its caption.
vii. Seeing all the friends’ picture and again thinking all the time to comment on the picture.
viii. Later comes some more things.. changing the themes, profile edits etc etc
ix. Visiting the communities and playing silly games in those communities and visiting the profiles of the few selected people.
x. Framing the eccentric questions for the communities and sometimes forming new communities itself and promoting it among the people to join.
xi. Banishing the hated communities and again promoting those communities to mark as the spam.
Is anyone of the above stated Crucial for living?
People will never understand that, they are literally killing their most precious time during which they could have done much better. But at the end of the day, we realize that it was not worth spending time with those sites. Again the next day same loop continues. After all …“Err is to Human”.
