Baby Girl - Give Me a Chance To Live.

They say that everyone is born here with a reason and a purpose.

I heard today, a family in the village where my Aunt is a school teacher were gifted with a baby girl. Unfortunately, the insane parents don't want to raise the kid. They needed another son, not a daughter. It is just painful to read or watch episodes about female foeticides and female child abandonment. Now, it is even more heart churning to watch and hear these thing in your vicinity and yet do nothing but watch. The parent have 3 daughters and a son, and needed one more son. But the God placed a beautiful girl in her mother's womb. Today, is the baby's day two in this world. And already it is rejected. It irked me even more when I heard that the mother of the child herself is adamant in abandoning the child. I felt like reminding her that she is also a female. The parents are not ready to keep the child for even a day. They are pestering the adopters to take the child soon. Even not willing to bring the child home from hospital. When a desperate family living abroad needed this child and asked the mother to breastfeed atleast for six months before they can adopt, the mother rejected it shamelessly. Not even a month. Not even a couple of days. What is THAT, which makes these people's heart so much barren? Is it poverty or a fantasy to possess son?

I have witnessed the discussions about gender differentiation at various occasions, where my unfamiliar distant relatives meet up. They don't want females to study, they don't want them to move ahead in life.According to them it is a liability to have a girl child. In those heated discussions if I or any sensible person talk in favor of a girl, they would berate us saying that the education has ruined culture or tradition. I often hear some say that it is compulsive to have a son, because once they die, a son should incinerate them, else they don't go to heaven. So they keep their sexual desires set ablaze until they find one and kill the rest.

So far, since 1947 we have gouged eyes of 3 Crore baby girls before they could enter and witness this beautiful world. The United Nations now calls India the most dangerous place on earth for a girl. In our ever growing rampant population and inflation why would someone want to have more children?  How many more children will be murdered and abandoned? How much more time will India take think broadminded?
How long will it take them to say, "Everyone is born here with a reason and a purpose"
"To live!"
